Course Overview

This course, AI Teacher Readiness by The AI Fluency Lab, centers on the following:

  • AI EDUCATOR WORKFLOW -- Learn how to use AI as your personal teaching assistant to plan and differentiate instruction, streamline communication, and more.
  • CHEATING AND AI -- How does AI play into academic integrity? How do we create an environment where students learn, think, and develop skills responsibly?
  • AI RESPONSIBLE USE -- What are the ethical concerns we need to be aware of with AI -- and how do they impact our decisions as educators but also as human beings?
  • PROMPTING AND AI IMAGES -- When we know how to communicate with AI models -- and some best practices, we can generate text and images that support teaching and learning.
  • ASSESSMENT AND FEEDBACK -- AI can help us, as educators, to support students in their learning journey. Learn how to use AI the right way to keep students thinking and growing.
  • STUDENT AI CO-CREATION -- When students use AI the right way, it can push their learning and help them to demonstrate understanding in new and exciting ways.

Our approach to this course:

  • We designed this course the way that we would want to take an online course -- short videos, exercises and activities to engage your mind, and discussion boards for collaboration.
  • We want to model AI use and professional learning. In that spirit, we have crafted some custom AI prompts for you to use to reflect on course content -- and to see new and different ways to use AI to engage in professional learning.
  • We're better together. We make extensive use of discussion boards in this course to allow all participants to learn from each other -- and share their own experiences.
  • As instructors, we pass the microphone around. Much like an engaging panel discussion, we gain insight from the interaction among panel members. Some modules are led more heavily by an instructor with a particular expertise or passion for the topic. However, other instructors chime in -- much like we might in a conference panel discussion.
